This week I began my temporary position at the University of Michigan’s Office of Government Relations office in Washington, DC. So far, I have had an incredible time. My work so far has consisted of researching fellowships offered by different organizations in Washington, DC, as well as attending Congressional Hearings in both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. My favorite hearing has been about at the House on Prison Reform and Methods to Reduce Recidivism, in which two senators spoke about the importance of addressing prison reform along with four other witnesses.
On Monday, July 10th I will be starting my internship at the Department of Justice, Office for Civil Rights, where I will be interning until August 18th. I look forward to the work I will be doing there and to be able to share my experience with others!
