Less about what I do, and more about other things.
Over the course of my internship, I’ve noticed lots of differences between Hong Kong and the US, especially in a working setting. From simple things like standing on the right side of the escalator so that people can walk up the left side, to bigger things like corporate culture and shaking hands, I’ve become quite accustomed to life here very quickly.
Working at a small hedgefund also means close interaction with the entire staff, all of whom are from different countries, cultures and walks of life. Usually, at lunch I join some of my co-workers for some local food and try to get to know them more. I think having the opportunity to intern in Asia has opened my eyes to a lot diversity in the workplace than I expected, and it’s been a really great learning experience.
I’ve also realized that I’d very much like to work in Asia after graduating, if I get the chance!
