Starting a New Project | Blog Post 3

This week was the start of my official research project and it’s been an interesting process thus far. It truly is the culmination of all the skills I’ve acquired throughout my experience at UofM and with the lab. However, a research skill set not only encompasses refined technique but also acquiring a thorough understanding of what is being researched and more importantly why the research is being done. Therefore, this project will be a great test to see how well I can implement these skills in a true research setting. The project itself will consist of producing a functional protein complex and proceeding to test if certain proteins interact directly with the complex. It is a relatively simple process but a great place to start to test my research ability. What’s also great about this project is that many more can stem from it as time progresses. In the meantime, I’m excited to see the results that will come about.
