Over the last 14 weeks, I have embarked on a journey in research that was very new to me. In the beginning, I had to adjust the expectations and the very professional environment of this internship. But as I learned, I adjusted, this opportunity has been tremendously beneficial for me. My research connected directly to my career path and degree choice, I learned not only about Hall thrusters but the physics behind the way the propulsion systems within them work. I’ve also discovered many different measurement devices used to test the efficiency of these systems. This internship has allowed me to discover a completely different side to scientific research, I’m so glad to have participated in this. I now have gained so many new writing and actual research skills that I can not only bring into my future classes but into my career. I’m so grateful to have had such an AWSOME mentor who was so immensely patient with me.
