Coming in as the Kessler Scholar intern was a big step for me. Part of this was because this position did not exist prior to me. I got the position after talking to the program’s director and discussing how we want to both improve the program and tackle certain issues in regards to the university and underprivileged students. Because there was no official position, my duties are not set in stone which is good but also worrisome. I can be flexible and work on many different things, but at the same time, it is new to be the one creating my own tasks. I am used to being given tasks and having a set routine. Everyone is really friendly so that makes the nerves lessen and the excitement to work grow.
