Rat dissections

I haven’t blogged for a while, but last week, I watched and did a cool rat dissection of the aorta. We wanted to isolate the smooth muscle cells of the aorta. I was very surprised at first about why the cells did not get contaminated in the incubator… they are rats, and they should be “dirty”. But after thinking about it, they shouldn’t… unless they have sepsis or immune system doesn’t work. I also had one of those philosophical realizations about life, but that’s besides the point.

Other than that, I’ve been getting western blotting down, but no new data yet :(.
