What Urban Farming Means to Me #3

This picture was taken on one of our market days at MUFI, where we give out as much produce as people can carry at no cost at all. While Monday’s-Friday’s consist of planting, weeding, tarping, making new plant beds, and other agriculture tasks, it isn’t until those Saturdays where I get to literally “reap” the benefits of an entire week’s of work. I love seeing the faces of people eagerly coming up and sifting through our various crops, sharing recipes and ideas on how to prepare them with one another, and happily walking away with fresh produce made right in their neighborhood and it didn’t even cost them a dime. This day in particular, I was busy from 8am-6pm, but I enjoyed it because I was interacting with so many people.
