What It’s Like to Be the Stepchild in a Family Business

For the past month I have been a part of the interworking of a family and community driven business. I have worked within small businesses before, but the internal operations of the companies that I have worked for previously followed strict protocols and bureaucracies. The company that I am currently working for, however, is different in the way it approaches its management style as well as its internal operations. The directors and managers are all friends. They’ve all grown up together in the same small town. This business is challenging me to learn how to network within their community in order to begin and finish projects.
