The most surprising thing about my internship was the amount of different day to day tasks the doctor had. Some days he’d be with patients others he would only have meetings. As my relationship with the doctor grew, he taught me about how the medical field is so much bigger than just seeing patients and providing prescriptions. Something that I was not aware of before. I always thought that as a doctor you had two choices either start a private practice or work for a hospital. However, there are many doctors who don’t practice every day or even at all, but instead, work for pharmaceutical companies or teach other doctors about new forms, techniques, and products to enhance the patient and their own experience. I learned that with a medical degree there is a myriad of things you can use it for.
