After a busy and productive summer, I almost feel like I need a vacation from my vacation. Tomorrow will be one of the busiest days of the year as new tenants get their keys and move-in. Yesterday I helped management and operations with pre-move in inspections and it gave me a new perspective. Most leases end in the middle of August with new ones beginning the first week of September. With each property taking as long as 2 hours, it can feel like Groundhog’s Day. There’s normally only four people who officially take care of these inspections. Realizing how much work needs to be done with such little time and resources is anxiety inducing. But, it’s also nice to know your contributions are valuable. With the need to grow or die, I’m normally left with little knowledge of what I can actually do. Some days I’m content in my independence, but it can be frustrating to try and ask questions to do your job when everyone else is trying to do theirs.
