Value of Diversity

A group identity that I felt in a different light during my internship was my gender. The non-profit sector is largely female based. While I was impressed with all the work my mostly female office did, I also noticed that the one male employee was in the highest position and I noticed that many female employees second guessed themselves and resorted to him. I also wish more men worked in the non-profit sector in order to get more perspectives.

My individual identity, or personality, was shown in a different light because I noticed how outgoing I am compared to other people. This was useful for both the work I did and office culture. I did notice that I can be kind of impatient, so that is an aspect of my identity I can work on. Overall, I am proud of how I represented my identities during the duration of my internship.
