Things Get Better With Time | #4

Initially, my internship started out a bit slow. I didn’t exactly know my role within the program. However, I have a great operations team and they were attentive and proactive in helping me get the most out of my internship. After around week 2, camp settled in, and things got much better!

Now at week 4, many of the kids now see me as a familiar face and I’ve learned many of their names. There’s never a dull moment; every day there’s something different. I spend a lot of time providing support in classrooms with children who need extra attention. A lot of the kids really love me! Behavior is something that many of these kids need to work on and dealing with them requires a non-judgemental approach and lots of patience. I don’t want to be a teacher, but I do like interacting with children. I enjoy being able to move freely from classroom to classroom and planning behind the scenes for them. I am going to make the most out of my last 2 weeks before it is time to say goodbye…
