I wake up at 7am, get ready, catch the 49bus, get off and get on the 94 bus. I take the elevator to the 13th floor of the Cook County Criminal Courthouse and go to my desk. I have been a summer-long task which is to transcribe over 23 recordings that vary in length, so every morning I reach for my files and my headphones and get to listening and writing.
Although it is a long project it is not all I do because I would go crazy listening all day! I appreciate the flexibility and openness all the prosecutors have with the law clerks in the office.
Overall, this experience has been an eye-opening one. I have been introduced to the world of criminal prosecution and it is something I can add to the people of things I am considering.
